Central Methodist Church is a Christian community of people of all ages from in and around Hucknall.
Our vision is that GOD will be CENTRAL to our lives and to the life of the wider community.
We aim to work towards our vision in our church life as we worship God, as we continue to learn together and grow in faith in Jesus Christ, and as we love and care for each other in the unity of the Spirit.
As God’s people in this place, we aim to include all in our wider community in God’s love, through practical concern, love and help, through our prayers and by sharing our experiences and our faith.
We're blessed with a modern single storey building, but our market place frontage retains a Victorian style in tribute to those who established and sustained Methodism in Hucknall passing on His love to the town for more than 200 years.
Like many recently built churches, upholstered chairs have replaced pews allowing flexible use of our worship area but the focus remains on the cross, the communion table and the pulpit. Methodism claims to have been ‘born in song’ and music still plays a big part in our worship. We have a fine pipe organ (and fine organists) but also use a piano and have a music group to allow us to worship in a variety of styles.
Our building is also enhanced with modern audio visual sound and projection systems and an induction loop for those with hearing difficulties.
However, our church is not a building
but a community seeking to know and
do God's
will through worship, meeting
together in Church fellowship groups
and working in
the community through
initiatives such as HOPE08 and our
Community Allotment.
Our church community is a reflection of Hucknall and the surrounding villages with
a full age range from babies through toddlers,
children, teenagers, young adults,
middle-aged and the
more mature all present and welcomed into our fellowship.
We aim to offer a friendly welcome to visitors whether
they're here for worship,
friendship or simply to enjoy
and explore the building and its facilities. We have
a
team of stewards to welcome both visitors and
regular worshippers to our services
and activities.
